Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

HBOT, or Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers, offer a non-invasive method of delivering more oxygen into the body by increasing the atmospheric pressure. When we go into a hyperbaric chamber the pressure is increased over the 1 ATA (standard atmosphere), that we live in at sea level. This increase in pressure allows more oxygen to be absorbed through the lungs. This abundance of oxygen yields a variety of physiological, biochemical, and cellular effects enhancing healing and wellness. HBOT is the most medically accepted way to increase oxygen levels to all organs of the body.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe? Are there any dangers?

HBOT is very safe, especially when applied at the lower pressures used in this office. Oxygen toxicity and other adverse reactions are rare and pertain more towards hospital settings, where much higher pressure is used due to the extreme life and limb threatening conditions. Additionally, all procedures are under Medical Director, Dr Jeff Ruterbusch M.D.

How long is a Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Session?

A typical session, referred to as a dive, takes 10 - 15 minutes to get from our normal pressure to the treatment pressure. You will then spend 60 - 90 minutes at pressure. After that it takes 10 - 15 minutes to “come back up” to our atmospheric pressure. This time varies slightly depending on each person’s ability to clear the pressure in their ears. This can vary day to day depending on sinus pressure or congestion.

How many sessions should I get?

The frequency and number of sessions will vary according to your condition and goals. You can dive one time a day for five days, or twice a day for five weeks! During your individual consultation, Dr. Renee personalizes protocols based on your unique needs.

What does Hyperbaric Therapy treat?

Clinical research has shown that HBOT helps many more conditions beyond the fourteen FDA indications. Functional Health and Wellness treatments include:

Reverse Aging at the Cellular Level: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been demonstrated in clinical studies to reduce the signs of aging and age-related diseases. In 2006, a landmark study showed an 800% increase in stem cell mobilization from a course of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Another landmark study discussed the effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in regard to telomere length. In this study, a 3 month course of hyperbaric therapy produced a profound increase in telomere length by 20% – 38%.
